So you probably don't know that Bill Martell is a wonderful journeyman action screenwriter, working right down in the trenches, and to whom so many people have gone to fix their action scripts that he got sick of doing it piecemeal and just wrote the cult bible on the topic. (Printed copies of have sold for $999 on eBay.) He also knows, somewhat unexpectedly, as much about storycraft as *anyone* I've ever read. (And I've read everyone.) He's the real deal. All of his blue books are probably worth reading, some a little more priceless than others. Some cover the same ground twice - which is great, because the core dramatic principles and storytelling paradigms are too multivarious ever to keep all in mind at once, and getting them re-hammered home is fantastic. Anyway, I've read and studied McKee, Truby, Snyder, Egri, Vogler &c. &c. &c. - and, for me, Martell sits right in that pantheon. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
